Your ‘Bucket List’ – Got a Plan To Get It Done?

Do you have a ‘bucket list’ of things you would like to do in retirement? Have you thought about how you will accomplish your bucket list? Will you have enough health and energy to do everything you want to do? Do you have a plan?

Bucket List

A good portion of the baby boomer population are getting set to retire. Are you one of them? Many have been investing financially in their retirement for years. That’s a great thing – after all, how else will they be able to accomplish their bucket list when they retire? But how many have had a plan to invest in their health, follow a healthy lifestyle and build energetic health to match their wealth? How many will be able to happily and energetically complete their bucket list?

Issues crop up

Somewhat unexpectedly, a number of baby boomers are now starting to see unwanted degenerative health issues cropping up, such as high blood pressure, metabolic syndrome, obesity, diabetes, high cholesterol, fatty liver and inflammation. This is rather upsetting, considering that many baby boomers have had great health most, if not all, of their life. Does this scenario sound familiar?

The saying ‘if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it’ comes to mind. As humans, all of us take for granted things that are working well in our lives – including our health. We don’t give our health much thought and we eat all the foods that the current marketing tells us are ‘healthy’ and we carry on – right? We certainly don’t expect to suddenly find ourselves ‘broken’ or have degenerative health issues that could slow us down or totally threaten the completion of our bucket list! No – that has never been part of the picture!

Has your retirement picture included investing in your health the same way you invest in your wealth? So many of us have a financial plan, but what about a healthy diet and lifestyle plan to support us in doing all we want to do?

There are two realities!

The shocking reality is that many of the above health issues have become prevalent in our society. Because they are so common, we tend to view them as ‘normal’ and as such, we sometimes think they are not serious. Make no mistake about it – these health issues can lay us flat and leave us spinning in a downward spiral that can lead to even more serious health issues, such as stroke and heart disease that threaten everything (yes – everything!) we have worked so hard for. Then what would happen to our plan for living the retirement of our dreams and crossing things off our bucket list?

Don’t despair – there is another reality! A positive reality! It is never too late to start investing in your health and never too late to make healthy changes in diet and lifestyle to build optimal health. Current research shows that 80 to 90% of degenerative disease can be avoided through healthy diet and lifestyle. Some degenerative disease can even be reversed – such as high blood pressure, metabolic syndrome, obesity, high cholesterol, fatty liver and inflammation. The bottom line is – the sooner a person starts to take charge of their dietary health and their lifestyle, the easier it will be to avoid and/or reverse degenerative health issues! From my own personal experience, I know that issues like metabolic syndrome, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, inflammation, joint issues and obesity can be totally reversed!
