Easy Spicy Beef Short Ribs

These beef short ribs are cooked slowly in a spicy tomato sauce, resulting in very tender meat.  This recipe is gluten free.

Easy Spicy Beef Short Ribs

Cooking time: 2 ½ hours

Servings: 4



2  14 oz cans of tomato sauce

3 Tbsp fresh lemon juice

4 tsp gluten free Worcestershire sauce

2 Tbsp dried parsley

1 tsp dried thyme

1 tsp celery seed

2 bay leaves

2 Tbsp brown sugar or coconut sugar

1 tsp sea salt

½ tsp crushed chili flakes

1 medium onion, chopped

3 lb beef short ribs



  • In a large pot mix tomato sauce, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, parsley, thyme, celery seed, bay leaves, brown sugar, salt and chili flakes.  Add chopped onion and short ribs.
  • Bring to a boil over medium heat.  Reduce heat and simmer gently, stirring occasionally, for 2 ½ hours.  Remove bay leaves before serving.
  • Serve over cooked quinoa.
